From Submarines to Bitcoin

Long before Bitcoin mining, Joe worked with complex technology in a very different environment: aboard U.S. Navy fast-attack submarines.

As a Navy submariner with a background in electronics and a veteran of the Global War on Terror, Joe developed an appreciation for technical systems, troubleshooting, reliability, and the importance of understanding how equipment actually works rather than simply how it is supposed to work.

Years later, those same instincts found a natural home in Bitcoin mining.

What began as an interest in Bitcoin and small-scale mining grew into hands-on experience operating and managing ASIC hardware across both home and professionally hosted environments.

Building Cinco Doggos Mining

Cinco Doggos Mining was built around a simple idea: Bitcoin mining should be understandable to ordinary people.

Joe is an independent Bitcoin miner with experience operating a diverse fleet of ASIC miners across home and hosted environments, including both air-cooled and hydro-cooled systems. His practical experience includes miner deployment and configuration, mining pools, hosting providers, firmware, power consumption, efficiency, profitability analysis, and the day-to-day realities of keeping mining equipment online.

He is also an advocate for accessible, decentralized Bitcoin mining and believes home and small-scale miners continue to have an important place within the Bitcoin network.

Rather than approaching mining solely through manufacturer specifications or theoretical profitability calculators, Joe focuses on what happens after the machine is plugged in.

Education, Media & Industry Work

Education has become a central part of Joe’s work in Bitcoin.

He hosts The Bitcoin Mining Show and Mid-Week Mining, covering mining hardware, hosting, pools, energy, network conditions, profitability, industry developments, and the economics of proof-of-work.

Through the Cinco Doggos Mining YouTube channel and social media platforms, Joe produces mining guides, equipment reviews, tutorials, interviews, commentary, and real-world testing designed to help both new and experienced miners make better-informed decisions.

His work also includes written Bitcoin and mining content, industry interviews, event appearances, and discussions with manufacturers, mining pools, hosting companies, developers, and other participants throughout the Bitcoin mining ecosystem.

The goal is not to make Bitcoin mining sound easy.

The goal is to make it understandable.

Bitcoin Through Music

Joe’s work in the Bitcoin space has also expanded beyond mining and traditional media into music.

In 2026, he launched Cinco Doggos as a recording project with the debut album 21 Million, using original songs to explore Bitcoin’s history, technology, culture, and the people who helped build it.

The project continues with Blocksize Matters, releasing September 15, 2026, a concept album that tells the story of Bitcoin’s Blocksize War through music.

It will be followed by F.I.A.T. (Faith • Inflation • Authority • Trust) on October 15, 2026, a darker concept album examining the history, institutions, incentives, and ideas behind the modern fiat monetary system.

Rather than treating music as separate from his educational work, Joe uses it as another medium for telling the stories behind Bitcoin, translating technical, historical, and economic subjects into something that can be experienced outside of a traditional article, podcast, or video.

Bitcoin Mining for Veterans

Joe is also the author of the upcoming book Bitcoin Mining for Veterans, scheduled for release in October 2026.

Drawing on his experience as both a U.S. Navy veteran and Bitcoin miner, the book is designed to introduce veterans to Bitcoin mining in practical, understandable terms.

It explores the fundamentals of Bitcoin and proof-of-work, mining hardware and infrastructure, electricity and efficiency, mining pools, economics, and the practical considerations involved in becoming a miner.

At its core, Bitcoin Mining for Veterans is about making an unfamiliar technology approachable and giving veterans the foundation they need to explore Bitcoin mining for themselves.

It represents the philosophy behind Cinco Doggos Mining.

Joe believes useful education comes from combining research with experience and being willing to show the successes alongside the failures.
